Experience Africa's greatest entertainment theme park, created around an authentic 19th century gold mine. The Carlton Centre is the tallest building in Africa. It is possible (for a small fee) to take an elevator to the 50th floor, where there is an excellent observation deck looking out onto the whole of Jozi.

This is the new home of the Constitutional Court. Previously being "The Old Fort Prison Complex", where Mahatma Ghandi and Nelson Mandela were imprisoned for a short time.

This telecommunications tower is 270 meters high and dominates the Johannesburg skyline, visible to visitors long before they reach the city itself.

Nelson Mandela's current home, situated in Houghton, Sandton; which borders on the Jozi city centre.

The Munro Drive is a national monument. Lookout Point is situated in upper Houghton and incorporates the Wild's - a nature reserve established in the 1930's.

A sophisticated, upmarket suburb featuring high class and expensive shops, world class hotels and Johannesburg's most illustrious corporate addresses.

As quoted by London's 'Daily Telegraph': "Rosebank, quite the best of Jo'burg's Northern suburbs, I mean the old green ones, not the brash new ones. What do you feel like doing in Newtown today? How about a thought provoking drama or light hearted comedy at the world famous Market Theatre? There is always a new exhibition on at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre to complement the permanent, interactive displays enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Museum Africa is another icon of Newtown, with permanent displays covering the "Rivonia Trials" and photographs from a time of peaceful protest, along with a range of South African History. Getting a little too serious? Let's go to Bassline and dance the night away! Live bands and DJ's perform here regularly. You'll also find clothing, ceramics, collectibles, second-hand books, jewelry and plenty of inexpensive mass-produced goods. Whatever you're looking for, the Jozi flea markets are full of bargains and pleasant surprises! Some of the well-known flea markets are:

Rooftop Market - located in the Rosebank Mall, 50 Bath avenue, Rosebank Sandton.
